Can bitcoin be transferred on paper? I've heard of paper wallets, but it sounds like that's mainly a way to keep one's entire wallet secure. Is there a way, for example, to print QR codes that will allow someone to receive a set amount of BTC from your wallet?
Like, if I want to pay with bitcoin at a store but they don't have a way to receive it digitally, could I just have like a little receipt printer connected to a hardware wallet that could print a code to transfer the necessary amount?

Miami’s first physical bitcoin faucet art installation “BIT by DRIP” comes to the Moksha Family Arts Collective for "Cybermystics" The 6th Annual Moksha Art Fair 2014 for Art Basel. Patrons can walk up to the faucet, scan their bitcoin wallet QR code and will instantly receive about 2700 bits for free (essentially $1). There are no rules from that point on. They can keep the bitcoin, give it to a friend or family member, or tip it to any piece of art in the gallery – you heard right! Tip any artwork in the gallery with bitcoin! Bitcoin has been integrated into the event by pairing about 35 pieces of art with their own unique public address QR code. Load up on bits from the faucet and then tip those bits to your favorite artworks 1000 bits, 1500 bits, or the entire 2700. Heck, if you’re in the mood, feel free to donate even more from your own personal “hodling” stash, buy some additional bitcoin from the BTM which is also here for the event or just buy the entire piece of art via bitcoin. This is Gentlemen! What’s the point of tipping art with bitcoin? Since each artwork has been paired with it’s own unique public address, we can us the Blockchain to monitor in real-time how many tips each artwork receives. The cool part is that we show this data on a monitor at the event and via live streaming for everyone to see. Some may look at this as a transparent voting system where the artwork which is most popular or appreciated, will most likely receive the most tips/votes. Whether or not that's the case, we simply look at this as a way to give the artists and the gallery feedback that they don’t usually receive as well as educate them further on different ways to monetize their trades. This is our first time, so we're going to learn a lot from this experiment in art and technology and we hope others learn a lot too. We have set up an online gallery just for this event with a catalog of the art and their respective Public Keys. Feel free to sent the artwork a few bits if you're in a good mood. No brainer for the next charity/emergency appeal related TV advertisement?
I was sat watching TV when the usual "emergency appeal: help starving children" type advert came on, and it made me think how much easier it could be for them to collect one off anonymous donations by having a Bitcoin wallet QR code on screen during the ad. A similar interaction already happens on some adverts I've seen by using the Shazam app when you see the Shazam logo on screen. By "Shazam-ing" the advert, you get redirected to the website or location related to the advert. Imagine sending an instant donation of any amount just by getting your phone out and pointing it at the screen when the ad appears. Surely this would be a no-brainer for every charity TV ad? My questions are:
Do you agree it's a no-brainer for them?
If yes, do you have any ideas on how to bring this to their attention?
This is a win win in my opinion, more awareness for Bitcoin (via TV ads) and more instant (low fee) donations directly to these charities.
I'm thinking about making paintings of Bitcoin QR codes
So, I am an art major. Got the papers and the loan debt I will never pay off. I have been tossing around the idea of making paintings of Bitcoin wallet QR codes. Say, someone can commission me to turn their wallet QR code into a glorious object to hang above their couch. So when you have a party or something people can donate to you. It seems like a QR wallet code can be one's own coat of arms banner or something. I have even thought about making my own ((paintings) = wallets)and depositing a certain amount of currency into them. And hang them at a show. I can determine the price of the wallet by how cool it looks. If someone likes it... They can scan the painting and deposit my asking price into the painting. Which seems pretty cool. I would deposit the BTC from that painting into my wallet and then pass ownership of that wallet to the buyer. The fun part would be sending money now and then back into the painting. To increase its value, or the owner increasing the value of their own painting. Either way, I have decided that any illustration or art I create in the future will be bought with Bitcoin instead of checks or cash. Its 2016, right? Just wondering if Anyone had heard of anyone doing this? Hail crypto.
This is the most 2014 sentiment of the year.An Australian manufacturer and marketing artiste and a programmer in Portland, Ore. who accept in no way truly met obtain successfully combined the year's two greatest phenomena: Bitcoin, and doge. The fruit: Dogecoin. And people are as a matter of fact using it.If you're not friendly with the doge meme, it's hard to explain — you put straight of partake of to just catch a glimpse of it yourself. Basically, someone on the Internet began posting images of Facetious Sans thought bubbles in the imagined syntax of a devastatingly ingenious Shiba Inu dog. Variations on the meme look like this. There's no position to it; it's rightful unified of those Internet things. But people value it — you can regard some "orderly ones" here. Everywhere three weeks ago, Jackson Palmer, who before daylight works in Adobe's Sydney marketing department, and who'd been following developments in the cryptocurrency everybody, absentmindedly tweeted, "Investing in Dogecoin, easy on the eyes confident it's the next big thing."He got some replies encouraging him to pursue the tenet, and a week later bought the territory Dogecoin.com. Inevitably, it got picked up on reddit, a breeding ground of doge activity. Meanwhile in Portland, Billy Markus had been trying to program his own digital currency that would be attractive to to a broader demographic than the profiteers who've flooded into Bitcoin. But the discharge had gone nowhere. Then he stumbled across Dogecoin.com within a lifetime or two of the place going live."The prime dingus I said was, 'This is so funny.' Then I said, 'I should unprejudiced authorize this coin.'"He Tweeted at Palmer saying he wanted to die in on it, and ahead Palmer on a par responded, started reconfiguring Bitcoin's sourcecode, which is publicly to hand, to direct its user-facing elements into the doge meme.Later Palmer wrote dorsum behind, and the partnership was formed. A minute more than a week after Palmer's jokey tweet, Dogecoin was launched.Again it got picked up on reddit, and instantly exploded. It is already the 13th seventh-largest cryptocurrency, according to Coinmarketcap, with a market-place value (i.e. enumerate of extant Dogecoins X penalty of $0.00086) of $8 million. It now enjoys its own detailed blown ecosystem: in augmentation to the website, it has a dedicated blog and forum, and of passage a subreddit. How has it done this?At bottom completely something called "tipping."If you're a geek who "performs" a "acceptable deed" on the Internet, it's happen to garden mode for people to "warning" you in your digital currency of choice. Exchange for instance: that kid who held up up his Bitcoin wallet's QR-code during ESPN's College Gameday got tipped thousands of dollars by the Bitcoin community exchange for such a brilliant motion of insurgent marketing. But it's become a bit costly to tip in Bitcoin, so people be struck by turned to Dogecoin. However with respect to a week after launching, Dogecoin became the second-most-tipped currency, the matched set say. They're hoping Facebook whim assume a widget they've been working on that would budget friends to "lagniappe" each other with dogecoin.Still, what's so great less Dogecoin?Technically speaking, it's more of a differing on Litecoin, which runs on a cryptographic program called Scrypt. Like Litecoin, the time it takes to process a Dogecoin deal is much shorter than for Bitcoin. There are also varied more Dogecoins that liking come into entity — 100 billion versus 21 million. But it's the mores that's sprung up encompassing it that's absolutely driving it forward. Palmer says it comes down to having a soften barrier of entry after people who power be interested in cryptocurrencies but are turned slack close to either the quotation of or so-far dubious background that surrounds Bitcoin. "It's not enchanting itself as kidding aside, it's not being utilized via people worrying relating to whether they'll behoove fecund in," Palmer said. "It's something to share as far as something thanks or kudos."Markus says his wife, who at opening was turned off work at hand his consideration in Bitcoin, has started mining Dogecoin herself — something you can do with your basic computer, different from mining Bitcoin, which at the moment requires industrial-strength processors. The tandem say they procure no aim of competing with Bitcoin, and both are lull ardent believers in its quiescent to substitution online banking. "It's a revolutionary technology, yes revolutionist," Markus says. "And it works as a shop of value because it's deflationary, there desire be a cap [on Bitcoins created">. It's a moment ago highly untrustworthy, which makes it hard to put to use, to lavish and spread it."How can you tell the Dogecoin fact is not a joke? This morning, Bitcoin and most other altcoins are up about 20%.Dogecoin? Up 250% and counting.
I believe the key to getting people to use Bitcoin is to look at the Roman Empire. Everybody here thinks that everyone in the world will eventually use Bitcoin, that may be true, but when? Most people are too lazy to try something new, and if there is some in place that is good enough, why should they switch to something that isn't popular yet? Here is where history comes in play. Why did the people of Rome use gold, silver, bronze, and copper coinage? Because it had value and...because Caeser had them minted and bascially forced the people to use them. That is what Bitcoin is missing. Something to force people to use the currency. What forces lots of people to switch? Stock Market Crashes, Banks Holding Money Hostage (Cyprus), ...bad circumstances. The other way to get lots of people to switch is with more acceptance in stores/businesses like what is happening right now, but this method is slow and not as dramatic as in something that is forced. All in all I see Bitcoin moving up in price only if more and more people move their money from banks to bitcoin wallets. Bitcoin was originally created to fight off the banks and give people their freedom back. What we need is to attack the Banks with Bitcoin. Put a Bitcoin ATM machine near your local bank. Put a download bitcoin wallet qr code sticker with some free Bitcoin on it on your local banks ATM machine. Get the idea? I want everybody posting Bitcoin Wallet QR codes(Free Bitcoin) on every ATM machine that they see. Keep a few stickers in your wallet. Imagine if this becomes a trend and lots of people start doing this, this is unstoppable!!!
Needing Some Info on Leathers (Wallets and Laser Etching)
Hello everyone! So I am about to start my very first attempt at leather craft. As soon as I purchase the rest of the tools I require and some scrap leather, I am going to start making wallets. I am excited to start learning how to do this. I am very patient and a bit of a perfectionist. I do not expect my first attempts to be very good lol. Luckily, I have no problem with a ridiculous amount of practice. Mainly because I had this idea to make some money involving my favorite hobby (Cryptocurrencies) while picking up a very cool new hobby that has always interested me (leather craft). What I want to do is make something along the lines of this , That is a Bitcoin wallet QR code etched into a leather wallet. If you do not know what Bitcoin is, here is a video explaining it in a very simplified way. That QR code essentially lets you pay for items with your Bitcoin account by simply scanning it where Bitcoin is accepted. I would like to provide a service that lets customers choose their style of wallet, choose their leather preference, upload their QR code, then I will craft their wallet and then have the QR code etched in. All of this after a long period of time of practicing wallet making of course. What I need to learn from you leather gurus is:
What leathers are best for wallets as far as being easy to work with, durability, and comfort?
What leathers do you suppose can be etched into with a laser and then maintain the etch over a period of typical wear and tear?
What websites do you recommend to start buying cheap practice leather?
I really appreciate your time guys. I really want to make this idea a reality and plan to do so. Thank you! Credit to BitcoinStore on Amazon for the photo provided in this post.
Bitcoin, celebrities, and sports and Lebron's decision
When pro athetes are free agents, and have a choice between two teams, could they create a wallet and QR code for each city, and tell fans of each city that they will choose the team that fills up their wallet with the most bitcoins (and then collect all said coins for self... or a charity!). I am sure NBA and NFL might make rules against this. It would have certainly put a spin on Lebron's decision way back. I am surprised celebrities aren't sporting bitcoin wallet QR codes around their necks flava flave clock style, even if just to support a cause or themselves.
